The Finance team is responsible for full financial control of EDF Trading Group business. Financial control includes: ownership of all financial control processes; financial accounting in accordance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS, FRS ); management and statutory reporting on all EDF Trading group entities; financial planning and analysis (budget and forecast), support for business transactions, and financial support to the business and management via full and detailed knowledge of business processes and models.

Position purpose

The role will work within the Financial Reporting & Analysis team, responsible for financial control of the consolidated EDF Trading Group.

Reporting to the Finance Manager for this area, the role will work in close coordination with other members of the wider Finance team.

The role entails responsibility for periodic financial accounting and reporting, the periodic reforecast processes, the preparation of management reports both for internal and Group management, and a focus on process improvement.

EDFT is currently implementing a new Enterprise Resource Planning system (“Workday”). The role will support this project where appropriate.

Main responsibilities

The role will work in coordination with other members of the Finance team across a range of tasks:

Monthly, quarterly and annual accounting processes and reporting for EDF Trading Group and subsidiaries including: Accounting entriesReviewing data to identify possible errors, and reconciliation to source systems where possible.Intercompany processes and ConsolidationPreparation and checking financial statements for reportingAnalysis of performance (e.g. variance analysis vs. budget, written commentary)Detailed analysis and reporting of other financial data and metrics (e.g. overhead cost analysis, CAPEX, working capital and return on capital, cash flow)Reviewing data posted by external systems and other departments for reasonableness and identifying possible errorsPreparation of management reports, and periodic financial presentationsAnswering stakeholder questions and providing additional ad-hoc analysis
Assist in the implementation of the “Workday” ERP system.
Assist the preparation of financial budgeting & re-forecasting.
Assist in other periodic and ad hoc Finance projects (finance and accounting support for commercial transactions, acquisitions, disposals etc.)

Experience required

Fully qualified Accountant
“Workday” ERP Experience (Financials).
Experience of consolidation (including translating entities with different currencies), and statutory reporting (IFRS)
Experience of periodic financial processes (financial “close” processes, budgeting and forecasting).
Experience of accounting for financial instruments (IAS39/, IFRS13) and consolidation accounting (IFRS10,11,12) (beneficial)
Experience within the Financial Services and/or Commodities industries would be beneficial but is not a necessity.
Experience using the Hyperion consolidation system (beneficial)
Experience using Sun / Q&A (beneficial)

Technical requirements

Sound accounting knowledge (balance sheet structure, core accounting principles, ability to identify and interpret relevant standards)
A good understanding of financial principles, processes and controls, and the purpose of financial and management reporting
Confident in the use of Excel for manipulating data, with advanced Excel skills (complex formulae: INDEX-MATCH, VLOOKUP, etc.)

Person specification

Able to juggle multiple tasks continuously while also prioritising effectively
A natural problem solver, with the ability to approach and solve a variety of problems (process and technical problems)
Responsive – able to react to urgent requirements and comfortable working within tight timescales
Good communication skills (written and verbal) with a meticulous attitude to work, demonstrated by in depth analysis with detailed workings, leading to clear and concise explanations
Able to work effectively in a team environment
Be able to self motivate and foresee problems and look to solve them before they occur

Hours of work: 8.30am – 5.30pm / 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
