Global Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance to management and the risk and audit committees as to whether the framework of risk management, control, and governance processes, as designed and represented by management, is adequate and functioning.

The Audit Investigations Team (AIT) perform or oversee all investigations conducted by Group Internal Audit (GIA), including investigations performed on behalf of HSBC’s whistleblowing platform, HSBC Confidential, or those matters referred to GIA by regulators, senior HSBC Leadership or other teams.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Manager, Audit Investigation TeamIn this role, you will:

Co-ordinate and manage several complex investigations. Independently perform investigations to achieve stated objective, including determining and developing investigation approach, and preparing investigation plan and reports Lead or support interviews of individuals as part of an investigationPerform the review of data and documents including emails and summarising the findings including preparing and retaining appropriate working papers and evidenceDrafting recommendations for agreement with the appropriate risk owners and stewardsAct as escalation point for issues relating to investigations, communicate with internal stakeholders including senior individualsUnderstand risks for GIA and adhere to team policies
Qualifications To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

Extensive experience (5+ years) in conducting internal investigations or other forensic accounting projects or equivalent roles. Experience of the regulatory framework across the financial services industry and products and services with working knowledge of the banking or financial services industry and associated regulationsRelevant qualification in accounting, compliance Experience of conducting ediscovery reviews and use of relevant ediscovery platforms Experience in attending and leading investigative interviews and preparing interview minutesAbility to work with a diverse group of individuals at all levels, and build constructive and effective stakeholder relationships  Able to demonstrate taking ownership of deliverables, working independently and as part of a team. Proven ability to interact effectively with senior stakeholders on contentious mattersStrong written and verbal communication and analytical skills including advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word and previous experience of big data analysisAbility to exercise discretion, tactfully handle sensitive situations and confidential data, and complete assignments timely and to the required standards. Ability to prioritise and multi-task in order to meet tight delivery deadlines

The base location for this role is Birmingham or Edinburgh.
