And we focus on delivering outcomes that are more than just financial – by investing sustainably to build a better world.Role PurposeThe Adviser Programme & Project Management team is a specialised function, supporting the delivery of change into abrdn’s Adviser business; as well as the development and transformation of our award winning open-architecture platforms; Wrap and Elevate. We are about more than technology.  You will lead a cross-functional team of change professionals from across our business – and beyond - to support our change agenda and radically transform our end to end Platform business.  This will be managed across a number of transition states and work-streams to allow us to achieve our intended business outcomes.This role will report to the Head of Programme & Project Management, within a matrix-based delivery structure.  This matrix will leverage horizontal delivery work-streams and vertical programme or transition states to achieve targeted business outcomes.  The structure is underpinned by an overall Programme Management Office which provides comprehensive delivery support processes and governance rigour.Key ResponsibilitiesAccountable for overall programme assigned; and its constituent projects, works-streams and releases; to time, budget and scope.Applies and champions appropriate programme and project management discipline, i.e. planning, resourcing, scheduling, monitoring, reporting and risk, issue and dependency management.Establishes an effective programme organisation structure with clear roles & responsibilities; including the day to day management of assignees.Responsible for the development and management of programme budget and expenditure.Responsibility for managing relationships with senior stakeholders; including resource/supply managers; drawing upon the collective strength of your team.Responsible for overseeing the management of quality delivery outcomes for each project/release ensuring that appropriate standards are adhered to.Ensure each delivered project, work-stream or release meets the agreed business outcome, to the required standard.Responsible for reporting and presenting on programme status to the Steering Group, stakeholders and senior management as required.Drive sustained high performance within the wider programme & Project Management team:to manage, develop and motivate Project Managers directly aligned to you for line management purposes;Invest time in self and others to create and deliver against a meaningful personal development plan, each year;positively engage with our people to create a collegiate professional workplace, where people enjoy their work.Qualifications & Experience – EssentialA flexible, credible leader with strong Business and IT delivery experience – a blend of both worlds is required for this role.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills – you will need to directly influence sponsors, business leaders and chair Steering Group meetings; experience at presenting at that level and having difficult but constructive conversations is important.Third party delivery experience – you will have extensive experience managing challenging third partiesAgile delivery – evidence of successful/adaptable use of different methodologiesPlatform change delivery experienceDynamic and proactive – ability to positively drive your team to deliver with successProblem solving - ability to understand the challenges the team are facing and help them successfully find the route to resolutionAbility to quickly assess a situation and determine the correct next steps and priority tasks to focus onCommercial awareness, understanding of how to apply a commercial lens to discussions and decisionsManagement of complex interdependent deliveries across multiple work-streams and vendorsDepending on the situation, ability to mentor others and/or pro-actively deploy varying techniques, around Planning, Tracking and Co-ordination across a combination of Functional, Data Migration, Application and Data decommissioning and driving the team to make pragmatic decisions around 'what is good enough'Complex commercial tracking with structures covering Product Development, Migration and TSA elements of deliveryExperience, knowledge and understanding within the Life & Pensions industry is highly desirable, particularly around abrdn and Phoenix GroupQualifications & Experience - DesirableRelevant Project / Programme / Portfolio / PMO Management qualification(s) e.g. PRINCE2; MSP; MoP; P3OOur BenefitsThere's more to working life than coming home with a good salary.
