Atkins, Balfour Beatty and Egis Road Operations UK are part of a consortium, creating Connect Plus Services, a unique partnership with a collective strength in highways asset care from finance, through to design, build, maintenance as well as day to day operation.As part of our 30-year remit to manage and improve the capital’s orbital motorway network, we deliver major improvement projects, such widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries, helping to maximise the use of the network and deliver more reliable journeys. We also manage the Dartford River crossing and operate and maintain 440 kilometres of motorway providing our customer and road user with a world-class highway service.We value diversity and celebrate individual differences, believing that our inclusive culture helps the business continue to grow as a strong, dynamic and innovative organisation.Work with the Ecologist, Landscape Manager and Drainage Asset Manager to identify opportunities for improvement schemes within the Natural England Environmental Designated Fund (EDF) Plan and criteria.Identify partnership schemes with third parties in relation to environmental improvements.Prepare, develop and submit EDF Stage 1 documentation for proposed schemes including, Scheme Register, Identification Brief, Business Case, Appraisal Report, Environmental Assessment and Risk Register.Cost estimation and review of supply chain quotations for EDF schemes.Provide over-sight of the delivery and scheme finances as portfolio manager of biodiversity and landscape schemes.Develop outfall and soakaway assessment programme.Lead pollution investigations and develop a clear process within the business.Work with Service Delivery to develop pollution response plans.Line management, including timesheets, assessing staff performance and recruitment when required. Lead and coach team members.Requirements:Degree or qualification in relevant environmental subject.Experience in environmental management and delivery of schemes.Experience in use of GIS / Highways England databases, e.g. HAGIS, HADDMS desirable but not essential.Full UK driving licence.Member of relevant professional organisation, e.g. Landscape Institute (LI), Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), etc.Understanding of UK environmental legislation.Why work for Atkins?Our Transportation teams are reinventing transport for a challenging yet exciting future.
