Your role

Work with our biometric and digital identity experts, suppliers, and partners to design and build innovative solutions for public sector clients in the UK and abroad.
Act as a visionary for Deloitte and our clients, support the testing of emerging technologies, run feasibility trials and discoveries, and support clients with analysis and recommendations to deliver their identity roadmaps.
Support clients in the procurement and selection of biometric platforms, guiding on best practice and providing market and technology insight.
Manage technical risk on large scale identity and biometric projects, evaluating the technical and business impacts caused by bias, matching performance, and resilience to presentation attacks.
Own the architecture design of large-scale identity solutions, managing governance forums for compliance, including identifying and documenting dispensations, key design decisions, and capability gaps.
Contribute to sales and future opportunities for the Firm.
Deliver within the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle, using agile delivery methods via multi-disciplinary teams.
Be as interested in managing people as managing products and services. As an active member of the architecture craft community, you will also contribute to internal practice development through coaching and mentoring.

Location: London/Manchester/Bristol
This role is with our London, Manchester, or Bristol office; however, youll also have a chance to work with clients throughout the UK, Europe and beyond.
Work pattern:This role is a permanent full-time contract opportunity.
Your professional experience
Overall, youre an ideas person and problem solver as well as a hands-on doer thats important. You know it takes a mix of people to do amazing work, so you love collaborating with and learning from people who have different skills, backgrounds and perspectives. If you have an interesting or unusual mix of skills yourself, even better.
Experience of architecting and deploying biometric and identity solutions, with exposure to a range of modalities including biographic, fingerprint, facial, and iris.
Experience of identity management in at least one of the following domains - law enforcement / national identity / border security & immigration / ports & carriers.
A good understanding of proprietary and standard biometric data exchange formats such as ANSI/NIST-ITL and ISO/IEC 19794 and understanding of the role of interoperability in the design of interconnect biometric systems.
Experience in advising and delivering biometric accuracy testing (BAT), governance, performance optimisation, system and gallery sizing and design of large-scale matching solutions and strategies.
Deep understanding of the risks related to biometric and identity verification solutions, the role of Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) and capabilities and limitations of verification, identification, and liveness detection (facial and fingerprint).
A good understanding of one or more biometric technology areas including ABIS deployment, IDV solutions, trust framework development, eGate and contactless/seamless travel, multi-modal matching and de-duplication, and data analytics at the border (people and goods).
Experience of architecting and delivering complex identity solutions, that may span multiple government departments and suppliers.
Experience in guiding clients in the selection and deployment of cutting-edge AI/ML technologies, including understanding of industry testing (such as FRVT, iBeta) and best practice for understanding, testing and minimising algorithm bias.
Experience of modern Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices.
Effective project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage with a cross-functional and diverse team and customer base.
Holds or eligible for UK security clearance to SC level.
Have existing trusted relationships with biometric vendors and understand the supplier landscape.
Deep understanding of AI and ML techniques used to develop biometric algorithms, and able to communicate capabilities and risks to stakeholders at all levels.
Experience in integrating biometric systems into wider end-to-end solutions including forensic analysis and case working systems.
Preferably have familiarity with the GDS Service Standard and the Technology Code of Practice.
Ability to manage a team of architects and subject matter experts with a focus on continuous improvement.
