You will lead a team of applied scientists that deliver across core machine learning and related disciplines. You will have a high level of comfort with ambiguity, a deeply analytical mindset with the ability to investigate complex challenges, and can effectively influence across organizations. You work backwards from the customer needs, dive deep into data to understand the issues, conceptualize and build algorithms that will enhance the efficiency of targeting products by working with cross-functional teams. Key job responsibilitiesDevelop vision, charter and long term strategy for the Applied science solutions to enhance critical parts of targeting productsUse machine learning and statistical techniques to create new, scalable solutionsDrive core business analytics and data science explorations to inform key business decisions and algorithm roadmapEstablish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementationHire and develop top talent in machine learning and data science and accelerate the pace of innovation in the groupBuild a culture of innovation and long-term thinking, and showcase this via peer-reviewed publications and whitepapersWork proactively with engineering teams and product managers to evangelize new algorithms and drive the implementation of large-scale complex ML models in productionKeep updated on the industry landscape in the online advertising space and identify algorithm investments to achieve an industry leading solutions.Basic qualificationsExperience programming in Java, C++, Python or related languageExperience directly managing scientists and/or machine learning engineersMaster's degree with applied research experienceExperience of building machine learning models for business applicationPreferred qualification Technical leader with hands-on experience in machine learning: deep learning, online/reinforcement learning, semi-supervised and transfer learningPh.D. degree in in Statistics, CS, Machine Learning, Operations Research or in a highly quantitative field.Knowledge of distributed computing and experience with advanced machine learning librariesAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
