Every day our teams help people in businesses and communities to do what is right and achieve their goals.Grant Thornton is a leading Advisory firm working with a large range of clients across the UK.  We are a leading business adviser that helps dynamic organisations unlock their potential for growth.We have created our own unique culture, one that allows you to have the autonomy to make your own decisions within a flexible structure, in an atmosphere where quality, inclusivity, integrity and teamwork are essential in developing our team of independent thinkers.Why Pensions Advisory?We are an award-winning Pension Advisory Team which has participated in over 500 covenant review and transaction-based assignments since 2005, working closely with trustees and sponsoring employers to ensure the benefits due to members of defined benefit pension schemes are met. A typical covenant assignment, either for the Trustees or sponsoring employer, involves the preparation of a detailed report highlighting the current financial position and expected forecasts for the businesses, focusing on its expected longevity, business risks (including ESG) and the implication this has for the profit and cash generation arising.  We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are looking to develop their client advisory and management skills.  We can offer excellent training in pensions, as well as personal development opportunities with potential secondments available to the Pensions Regulator or the Pension Protection Fund.What you’ll be doing:As a Manager you will be involved in all aspects of client work and business development, from report writing to the preparation and delivery of proposals; we won’t limit you.  We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who want to build a career within Pensions Advisory.You will frequently support our clients in their valuation discussions, highlighting different funding structures and contingent asset availability, that could be used to provide the funding support for the pension scheme.You will lead advisers on ground-breaking pension-centric corporate restructurings where we instigated innovative solutions to complex problems and are focused on addressing the key issues facing pension schemes in the current climate; principally sponsor longevity, ESG risks and opportunities and the planning and implementation of end game funding strategies.You will also work closely with colleagues in our Actuarial Team to deliver scheme de-risking, scheme restructurings, pension scheme transaction advisory, PPF Levy management, scheme funding advisory and pensions assurance advice to our clients. Finally we work closely with the Pensions Regulator and the Pension Protection Fund (PPF), where an on-going secondment program provides us with continued insight into how relevant regulation and guidance is developed and implemented, thereby enhancing the advice we can provide to our clients.  Knowing you’re right for us We are looking for individuals who want to unlock their own potential whilst providing value adding services to key financial corporate stakeholders. Our minimum criteria for a Pensions Manager role are:Good communication, report writing and analytical skillsA professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA or equivalent)Confidence in managing a large portfolio of clientsIn addition, it would be great if you had the following skills and attributes, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.Project & time managementClient management and business developmentGood presenterStrong inter-personal skills and a desire to learn and shareCommercial awarenessAbility to work collaboratively as part of a team​Whilst relevant experience within pensions covenant advisory (or in a related role) would also be of benefit, it is by no means necessary.
