Whatever your priorities – work/life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering - you’ll find like-minded people driving change at Howden Group.The Howden Markets Portfolio team operates within Howden Group to execute the Group’s strategy to co-ordinate, manage and develop group strategic portfolio placement beneficial outcomes. As a Portfolio Manager, based from our London office, you will work with members of the senior management team of the department in the development and execution of the Group’s high level insurer strategy and the co-ordination, management and development of strategic insurer and re-insurer relationship, to grow and retain profitable business, ensuring that budget/targets are met or exceeded.  You will act as a supervisor/role model to other members of the team and as the team grows in size, are likely to be given staffing responsibilities.You’ll be a driving force for Portfolio planning, management and execution, in liaison with business stakeholders and to deliver exceptional Portfolio management, meeting agreed goals on time and within budget.Additionally, you will have responsible for ensuring that day to day activities operate in accordance with applicable Company and/or Group policies to achieve targets, develop the business and deliver an excellent and comprehensive service.Key AccountabilitiesHelp to define Portfolio plans, scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.Deliver assigned projects and also contribute to other projects and initiatives as required.Support wider business strategy by contributing expertise and advice to the team.Support the overall growth of new business through executing appropriate strategies; developing and maintaining insurer relationships.Contribute to strategy development and prioritises operational deliverables.Provide support to others to achieve positive results in line with strategy.Contribute to overall product, channel and technical strategy across the global business.Own and manage operations of the Portfolio, designs the plan of work for each phase of the project.Create good practices, tools and processes for Portfolio management and help ensure that indicated standards are being followed.Identify risks, highlighting these to relevant parties in good time and ensuring mitigating action is taken.Create and maintain comprehensive Portfolio documentation (e.g. PIDs, business cases, KPIs etc.).Measure Portfolio performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.Create Portfolio reports against indicated key performance metrics to support data-driven decision making process.Provide investment advices, based on market performance where required.Act as a referral point, providing technical input and expertise to advise/coach others and to ensure that actions/decisions taken are appropriate.Execute/deliver Master Service Agreements (MSA’s) with strategic insurers and deliver against key performance indicators (KPI’s) in accordance with service schedules.Act as an escalation point for queries raised by key clients (Insurers) in order to ensure these are handled efficiently and effectively.Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience Experience of working as a Portfolio Manager or similar role.Experience in market engagement, presentation and high impact documents.Experience in analysing large datasets to assess their profitability, scalability, viability and scope of opportunity.Demonstrable experience of Portfolio delivery throughout the whole lifecycle (from start-up to benefits realisation).Understanding of the general principles of insurance and/or London Market operations.Consultative and collaborative with strong interpersonal skills.Highly organised, with good planning/prioritisation/time management skills.Analytical and able to solve problems.Able to spot opportunities and be enterprising.Customer focussed approach.Technically relevant or Industry recognised qualifications (e.g. Prince2, AMP, PMP, MSP, CII Certified etc.) would be beneficial.Likely to have Dip CII and have started to study for ACII.What do we offer in return?A career that you define.Yes, we offer all the usual rewards and benefits - including great healthcare provision, a wide variety of wellbeing offers, competitive salary, generous pensions and more - but we know you expect all that.What you might not expect is a job where everyone has a voice, where volunteering in the community is part of the day job, and where everyone is encouraged to play a part towards our sustainability goals.
