Harmonic are delighted to be supporting one of London's most exciting food start-ups on the hire of a Finance Manager which is a newly created role in response to their growth.

Only a few years into their journey, they have disrupted the market and are paving the way in terms of fresh, honest, and organic products. As a result, their small team is growing quickly, and they are looking for colleagues who share their values, mission, and ethos towards sustainability. The company ethos is informal and prior to Covid they had regular socials (which have been moved online) and have continued to work to a collective goal.

Our client has a brilliant production facility based out of West London and are looking to integrate a Finance Manager into the team who will take ownership of the full finance function which is currently outsourced. The business is owner-led so this is a brilliant opportunity to for full autonomy of the finance function and to business partner with the company founder to set the strategic vision of the business. This is a prime opportunity for an up and coming candidate to built out a function and have a direct path to a Head of Finane role in near future.

The role:

Reporting directly into the business owners, this position is a sole finance role. The Finance manager will need to be knowledgeable about production/stock businesses.

  • Full responsibility for the management of the finance function on a day-to-day basis
  • Cost analysis and maintenance of the stock records
  • Lead the order taking, production planning and ingredients purchasing processes (MRP) to ensure consistency, reliability, and accuracy. i.e. fit-for-purpose.
  • Deliver Financial accounting, tax reporting and Statutory reporting pack
  • Work with founder on Finance Business models (excel)
  • Building out of core framework and structure for finance - thinking about how this would look as the business grows.
  • Responsible for driving the forecasting and budgeting and managing the production of the monthly management accounts. Delivery of KPIs
  • Cashflow management and forecasting
  • In the SME environment, the Financial Manager will play an important role in company decision making and be required to work on a range of projects within finance.
  • Supporting the business owners with mid-term financial planning and longer-term growth strategy, including building out a finance team.
  • Responsible for working on ad-hoc project work.
  • Business partnering with other teams, including sales, production, and marketing

What our client would like to see:

  • Stock / Production / Manufacturing experience
  • Advanced Excel experience
  • Experience with start-ups / scaleups / SME companies
  • Clear and confident communicator

What we would like to see (Not Essential):

  • Experience working within an owner managed business
  • Notazone systems experience


  • ACA / CIMA / ACCA Qualified or in later stages of studies
  • Would also consider QBE with relevant industry experience

Salary Expectations: £50-60k + bonus

Availability: No more than 2 months
