Overview


Nomad Foods was formed in 2015 and with revenues of €2.9bn is the largest frozen food company in Europe. Nomad owns a portfolio of leading brands including Birds Eye, Findus and iglo, supplemented in 2018 with the purchase of Goodfellas Pizza and Aunt Bessie’s, and in 2021 with the purchase of Ledo and Frikom.

We manufacture and distribute a range of branded frozen food products across 22 European countries with the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Sweden and France representing our five largest markets.

The long-term goal of Nomad is to develop a global portfolio of best-in-class food brands by growing organically and through strategic M&A.

We are proposing that our new Finance Shared Service Centre will house both our Financial Accounting teams and our Financial Planning and Analysis Centre of Expertise.

The Head of FP&A leads all key elements of financial planning, closing and reporting processes (strategic plan, annual plan, outlook, actuals and reporting & analysis) for the P&L, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows and Enterprise KPI reporting for Nomad Foods.


Managing an efficient and effective planning process for the organisation, ensuring all internal and external factors are considered in developing a robust plan, and ensuring the effective leadership a team of experts.


This role requires the use of analytics to go beyond the numbers, using a variety of data sets to provide real, valuable insights to both grow and protect the business.


Responsibilities


Providing pro-active financial insight and reports finance results for the organisation
Ensures financial support by providing analysis, review, planning and control to ensure that the organisation's financial resources are managed in accordance with accounting principles
Responsible for the analysis and interpretation of financial trends requiring leadership's attention and will generate models and analysis to support strategy, theory and ideas
Challenges existing processes, systems, reports, data analysis and outputs and implement necessary changes to create a best-in-class FP&A structure
Originate and develop analyses to help executives better understand financial trends and financial opportunities (e.g., develop standardised reporting and analytics). Leverage analyses to ensure that the company meets its financial expectations and make certain executive leadership is fully aware of financial results
Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost- effectiveness
Manages the annual budget process, including developing key assumptions, working with business partners to ensure budgets are appropriate and that internal partners establish action plans that achieve the necessary financial outputs
Manages the company’s ongoing forecast process
Develops Executive Presentations, monthly Executive reviews, quarterly BOD packages, etc
Analyse industry trends and competitor strategies to identify and make recommendations on opportunities
Develop the 3-5 year long range plans, including developing the appropriate models and working with senior leadership to reflect business trends in the financial plans
Contribute to the development of financial systems and procedures
Drive the development and implementation of processes and tools that allow for increased, efficient analytical capabilities and that allow executives to understand key financial issues in a timely and effective manner
Determine how potential issues will impact the company’s financial statements in terms of accretion/dilution and other accounting impacts such as operating income, free cash flow and financial returns
Collaborate with the Senior Leadership in all aspects of financial support, project analysis and modelling. Prepare sophisticated financial modelling to determine solutions for complex financial issues


Qualifications


Essential

University degree
Accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, CPA, CMA, CHAE or equivalent)
10+ plus years of progressively increasing responsibility in operations, finance, and accounting. Global experience a must
Experience leading an FP&A team for an FMCG company
Strong organisational management experience
Experience with planning systems and reporting technology
Working knowledge of business intelligence tools and developing data visualisations
Understand macroeconomic and econometric information, metrics, indices, driver-based models
Strong written and verbal skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management
Ability to work collaboratively with other Corporate and Finance organisations, business unit leadership to test and validate appropriate market and economic drivers

Desirable

Understands industry dynamics of company and business units
Understanding of continuous improvement activities utilising Lean & Six Sigma tools
Very strong analytical and forecasting abilities
Strong modelling and solid database skills required
