At its heart is the Digital needs of our students, staff, and research partners, and modernising of the University’s critical IT Infrastructure.
High-class requirement definition and building is critical to the successful delivery of our workstreams and we’re growing our BA numbers to meet the increased demand for re-imagined products and services. Our Business Analysis capability will sit under the portfolio of the Director of IT Digital Programmes.
It’s a fast-paced and changing environment in a team that drives the delivery of change through both waterfall and agile managed programmes, projects, and smaller change initiatives.
What will you be doing?
You’ll be leading the business analyst function within IT Services, with direct line management responsibility for the team, and responsibility for the continued development of the function and its methodologies.
You’ll also own end to end activity throughout the change delivery lifecycle, from early engagement and creation of business cases through to realization of the desired future state. Requirement building for business and technical services, creation of user journeys and stories and business process modelling are all fundamental in the day to day of the role. As you’d expect, there’ll be plenty of close quarters working with Project Managers, Architects, Product Owners and Scrum Masters to flesh out project plans, work through our product back-log, and help define prioritisation and refinement activity. There’ll also be healthy wider involvement in data analysis, user acceptance testing, and supporting the business transformation and service transition that is needed for successful implementation.
Our Senior Business Analysts are champions of requirements-driven change – at this level we’d expect a savvy relationship builder; engagement with key stakeholders and subject matter experts at all levels from across the University is a critical part of the role, ensuring we fully understand the needs of our students, staff, and the Institution as a whole. This role will include the line management of other BAs
You should apply if
You hold have a degree relevant to Business Analysis or career experience which demonstrates your capability at the level
You have a solid working knowledge of process review, business analysis and system development methodologies
You can demonstrate how to apply this knowledge on high value, high profile and auditable programmes and projects
You’re excellent at managing a high workload consisting of many different strands
Team Management experience – you can articulate the how’s and why’s of leading a team of BA’s
You can showcase advanced analytical and problems-solving abilities
You possess a good foundation of general IT knowledge through exposure to a range of systems applications
Proven change management skills in a complex stakeholder environment.
You’re outcome focused and thrive in an autonomous role
There’s also a couple of nice to haves:
Knowledge of Business Architecture, Capability and Maturity modelling
ISEB and/or BCS Diploma
