Job summary Do you want to be part of the next big thing when it is still Day 0? The EU long-term Risk & Strategy Supply Chain team is a central team working across a variety of topics within EU Operation and beyond.

While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.

We work closely with EU business leaders to drive change at Amazon.

We focus on solving long-term, ambiguous and challenging problems, while providing advisory support to help solve short-term business pain points.

Amongst others, key topics include Real Estate and Labour scarcity, Engineering innovations, delivery speed, profitability, and customer experience.

This novel team will tackle these issues by building innovative econometric models, mitigation strategies, and high-impact experiments which we integrate into business, financial, and system-level decision making.

Our work is highly collaborative and we will regularly partner with EU- and US-based interdisciplinary teams.

We are looking for a Senior Economist who is able to provide structure around complex business problems, hone those complex problems into specific, scientific questions, and test those questions to generate insights.

The ideal candidate will work with various science, engineering, operations and analytics teams to estimate models and algorithms on large scale data, design pilots and measure their impact, and transform successful prototypes into improved policies and programs at scale.

You should be enthusiastic about working with complex data, solving problems in a systematic manner, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a progressive environment.

The candidate knows and loves working with business intelligence tools, can model multidimensional datasets, and is able to collaborate effectively with business leaders to answer key business questions.

They will need to be comfortable with ambiguity in a ever-growing and ever-changing environment, and be able to guide project teams.

Key job responsibilities · Provide data-driven guidance and recommendations on strategic questions facing the EU Operational leadership · Scope, design and implement version-zero models and experiments to kick-start new initiatives, thinking, and drive system-level changes across Amazon · Build a long-term research agenda to understand, break down, and tackle the most stubborn and ambiguous business challenges ahead of us A day in the life This role will be an essential part of the newly founded long-term risk planning team within supply Chain and look at the long-term strategy from and economical point of view vs short-term planning.
