CLOUD ENGINEER / SAAS ENGINEER

A cutting edge opportunity to support the Director of Global IT & Cloud Services. The SaaS Engineer will support the day to day running of the cloud. Although mostly automated, there will also be a range of daily manual tasks for which this role will be accountable.

This is an excellent challenge for an experienced Cloud Engineer or indeed a Developer or IT Administrator that is keen to move into operations. Position/Responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of alerts, checking the system and escalating issues to the Director as necessary
  • Ongoing maintenance of the database
  • Verification of back-ups
  • Ensuring Docker deployments are up to date
  • Maintenance and development of deployment code
  • Automating tasks that are currently executed manually
  • Implement/integrate new technologies in our Cloud Infrastructure
  • Researching new technologies and proactively improving the technology stack.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, in particular web development, to provide the highest level of support and assistance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Apply a real customer focus when planning deployments/updates, having the customer in the forefront of the mind and considering the impact on them before making these changes
  • Work with a modern and evolving technology stack, demonstrating openness for further development and a pro-active mentality
  • Write and maintain documentation of processes, working in line with company global security standards

Requirements/Skills:

  • Good understanding of shell scripting
  • Coding skills - preferably Python or Go
  • IT automation/orchestration tools knowledge would be great - familiarity with tools/concepts such as Chef/Puppet/Salt or Ansible
  • Solid Linux (preferably Ubuntu) knowledge is required.
