Job Title: Field Service Engineer 

Location: Companies HQ is in Crawley - candidate will be required to visit site for training and monthly visits, so needs to be up to 1 hour MAX away from this location.

Salary: £36,000 per annum + Company car, fuel card (private fuel UK only provided), AA assistance, mobile telephone, and computer provided, Out of pocket expenses reimbursed

This is a leading business with innovative and futuristic HQ in Crawley - who design and manufacture UV light curing systems with a huge variety of applications to different industries and businesses. This role is to report to the Service Manager and is responsible for the Commissioning, Servicing and Warranty checking onsite with clients. 

This position is ideally suited to those with experience of full-time field service work, who like a role with worldwide travel. Trips are usually between 1-5 days long and thus you will usually be home at weekends. However, early starts/late returns are the norm. Occasional service jobs require a 2-week scheduling. You will be out on site approx. 80% and in house 20%.

*We are an essential business and have been travelling continually throughout the pandemic in the UK. Worldwide travel will be a requirement when COVID rules permit.

You will be given comprehensive training in Production to gain knowledge of components, assembly (electrical/electronic and mechanical), repairs and refurbishments, product testing, analysis and fault finding skills.

You will then accompany other experienced Service Technicians on installation and service jobs on site at customer premises. Once a sufficient level of competency has been gained you will go to site unaccompanied to carry out the full range of tasks. 

Field Service Work

  • Installation of electro-mechanical industrial equipment predominantly on to printing presses – both as new and retrofit equipment
  • Commissioning the range of GEW products, recording the required measurements.
  • Test the equipment to satisfy the customer’s requirements and provide operator training.
  • Customer/OEM/Distributor/staff training as required from time to time, both in house and on site in the UK and worldwide.
  • Service and repair of existing systems.
  • Gaining experience and building up knowledge of printing applications and the factors affecting curing.
  • Travel in the UK and overseas worldwide working mostly alone but with support from the in-house service team.
