Job Description

Facilities Technician

Location: Chessington World of Adventures, Surrey KT92NE
Hours: Full time, permanent, averaging 40 hours per week on a shift pattern which will include weekends and bank holidays
Pay: annual salary of £25,000, a pension, 28 days’ holiday (including bank holidays), a Merlin Magic Pass - 20 free tickets for you, your family and friends to enjoy all of our Merlin Attractions across the world!

About the Role

As a Facilities Technician you will be responsible for maintaining the facilities and equipment within our two themed hotels (the Safari Hotel and the Azteca Hotel). Looking after both back and front of house, you’ll bring your skills, knowledge and experience to share with the team. Health & Safety is number 1 priority for our Facilities team as we deliver high standards of safety and efficiency, particularly when responding to breakdown calls and undertaking corrective works.

You will work safely to risk assessments and be proactive in minimising downtime of facilities and equipment. Aiding the Team Leading in working to budgets, you will be commercially aware when considering the most cost effective option for materials and spares. It’s not all about being reactive though, as you’ll help plan and execute our rigorous maintenance programme, quite a change from your average maintenance job, and a lot more fun!

This role is full time, permanent, averaging 40 hours per week on a shift pattern which will include weekends and bank holidays.

About You

We are looking for the following skills and experience;

  • Our ideal candidate will have completed a trade-based apprenticeship, or be qualified to HNC/BTEC level or equivalent, in a building trades/services discipline.
  • A multi-trades background is preferred and we would expect you to have adequate working knowledge of associated regulations and legislation.
  • A people’s person, friendly and a real team player, happy to engage with the public and deliver an excellent level of customer service.
  • Good at developing sound working relationships and a great communicator; you will be well presented and will take pride in your work.

The Perks

We’re growing fast and alongside a fun and friendly environment, we offer a fabulous package and amazing prospects. Benefits include a competitive annual salary, pension, 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) and, of course, a Merlin Magic Pass which gives you and your friends and family free admission to all of our attractions worldwide, as well as 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants and 40% discount on LEGO.

Everyone Matters at Merlin.
At Merlin we welcome the world to our magical attractions and resorts every day and we want to reflect that same multicultural mix inside our business too. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse workplace where people can be themselves, have the same opportunities and thrive together. Because at Merlin, everyone matters!
Together, we work to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, no matter their age, race, gender, disability or sexual orientation. Although we understand that we'll always be learning and growing, we aim to be the most inclusive and flexible employer in our industry.
