Finance Assistant (Payroll)

Permanent, Full Time

We have an exciting opportunity to work within our Finance team as one of our Finance Assistants, with a focus on payroll.

We are a forward thinking, values driven housing association. This role is agile in nature, working from home for up to 50% of your time, with the remainder based in our Rockingham Street offices in Sheffield

Job Description

The Payroll Finance Assistant role is responsible to the Financial Accountant and works alongside a Finance Officer to provide a full payroll & compliance service to the SYHA group.

The salary is between £22,925 - £24,386 (3F) for a 37-hour working week with generous holiday entitlement of 27 days annual leave, statutory bank holidays and an additional 4 SYHA days. More about the role:

You will:

  • complete the monthly payroll for the SYHA Group
  • assist the Financial Accountant in the provision of a flexible and comprehensive payroll & accounting service
  • communicate effectively with employees and teams of the Association and of external organisations
  • prepare reconciliations
  • assist the Financial Accountant with project work as required

Who you are:

You will be an enthusiastic, optimistic, resilient, and flexible individual with the ability to provide an effective payroll service including submission of statutory returns and knowledge of relevant legislation.

Our ideal candidate can also:

  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing with a wide range of people and work effectively in collaboration with a variety of staff
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of accounting principles and techniques
  • Have the ability to solve problems relating to systems and controls quickly and effectively
  • Have intermediate spreadsheet skills (vlookup, sumifs etc.)
