An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to join a public sector organisation based in Essex

The successful applicant will have previous experience in in carrying out noise investigations in relation to domestic, commercial and residential settings. They should be able to issue notice under the Environmental Protection Act and Control of Pollution Act. Review Planning and Licence applications - perform section 61 dispensations. Perform, ideally within a public sector organisation.

They will be required to have a knowledge of current work practices and recent developments within Environmental Health Legislation, or noise related to Planning.

In this role your main objectives are:

  • Carry out duties of an Environmental Health Officer/Environmental Protection Officer within the Environmental Protection Team, particularly in relation to Noise Complaints, nuisance, licence applications and planning consultations.
  • To act as an advisor to other council departments such as Planning, Building Control, Housing, Highways, Licensing and Engineering on noise and vibration and / or environmental issues.
  • To liaise with external partners and attend meetings on environmental protection issues as appropriate
