We are currently seeking a Senior or Principal FPGA Design Engineer ( Digital Electronics Engineer / Hardware Design Engineer ) to join one of the UK's leading engineering & product design consultancies based in Cambridge. You will work in multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists, leading the development of large, complex, multi-disciplinary, R&D projects -primarily in the wireless communications arena. As a Principal FPGA Design Engineer you will work on complex FPGA based designs including FPGA / digital hardware and PCB to produce an elegant, realizable concept before moving on to implementation. You will proactively contribute to the design and maintenance of digital and FPGA based prototyping systems, working alongside teams responsible for firmware development and systems which are an essential part of the verification environment.

Principal FPGA Design Engineer ( Digital Design Engineer / Hardware Design Engineer ) requirements:

  • A minimum of Bachelor level degree ( BEng, BSc, MEng) in Electronics Engineering, ideally a 1st or 2.1 - or significant industrial experience
  • Solid skills and experience in FPGA design, optimisation and troubleshooting
  • Experience of PCB design as well as ASIC design and verification
  • A broad skillset including VHDL or Verilog, protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, SAS, I2C, SPI etc., Ethernet, USB
