Position: Software Architect

Salary: Up to £80,000

Location of the office: Northwest

Location of the Work: Fully Remote

The Role:

At exciting new position has now been created for a Software Architect to join our industry leading clients in the Northwest, as they continue to design and develop industry leading security products and services that are sold around the globe. They now require a Software Architect to join the engineering team who will be tasked with accelerating their exciting new range of IoT connected products. They are offering this role as fully remote with only the need to visit the site once or twice a month.

Ideally you will have experience in a similar role and have led previous successful product developments on Linux based platforms, ideally within the IoT space. You will be able to look at architect level issues, create plans to solve current issues, increase product functionality and role these projects out to a design team. You will not be expecting to be hands on, but your technical background will likely include most of the following: Embedded C programming, a host of networking protocols and wireless communication protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, MQTT etc), Linux environments and IoT connected devices.

The successful Software Architect can expect the role to include:

  • Architecting and implementing future proof, scalable Linux platforms to support new and existing functionality.
  • Assigning work to the firmware team and ensuring quality implementation.
  • Collaborating with the Cloud development team to deliver seamless integration.
  • Advising on concept designs and converting into technical requirements.
  • Interfacing between product management/marketing and development.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Technical lead experience
  • Ability to make architecture level decisions and communicate them to a team.
  • Delicate work within the team
  • IoT devices and connectivity
  • Ability to understand user requirements and implement them into a new system.

Desirable Skills:

  • Hands on experience in Yocto BSP packages.
  • Cloud platforms using MQTT, HTTPS and web sockets.
  • Knowledge of developing IoT solutions to work seamlessly with commercial IT infrastructure.
  • An eye for user experience.
