Dawson Levy Resourcing are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to join a key client of ours on a permanent basis in Liverpool.

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to work within our Infrastructure Division based across the North West region. Working within our clients Infrastructure Business Unit, Senior Project Managers play an integral part in delivering operational excellence and improvement across our construction projects. Reporting to the Operations Manager, core responsibilities encompass client liaison, lean construction and programme performance, taking overall accountability for the operational delivery of their allocated projects.

Working with the client to enable the most efficient and cost-effective approach in delivering outstanding projects while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality assisted by the Operations manager you will demonstrate and develop and financial controls that detail profit and loss and detailed cost to complete reports for each project within the program. You will be expected to manage multiple schemes within the division depending on complexity and value.

What you'll be doing day to day

Project delivery

Lean construction forms an integral part of our approach to project delivery. Across their allocated projects, Senior Project Managers are responsible for the following in this respect:

  • The successful candidate will be expected to manage multiple schemes within the Region
  • Line Management of the site management team, including Project Managers, Engineers and Foremen
  • Attendance at key project meetings
  • Tender handover meetings
  • Pre-start meetings with the client
  • Pre-contract meetings with supply chain partners
  • Collaborative Planning sessions
  • Weekly site meetings to review progress and actions to deliver works
  • Monthly progress meetings with the client
  • Development and ownership of a construction programme, with assistance from the project Planner, updated throughout construction to reflect contract change and progress
  • Client liaison throughout construction, including the completion of a Customer Expectations Survey (ahead of works starting) and a Customer Satisfaction Survey (following project completion)
  • Completion of MD checklists to confirm sites are operating in line with company processes
  • Oversight of the construction programme, including insertion of data into the MSR system

Lean construction

Lean construction forms an integral part of our approach to project delivery, and has been identified as essential to sustained growth of the business. For their allocated schemes, Senior Project Managers are responsible for the following in this respect:

  • Application of Lean tools, including Collaborative Planning, Production Control, Plan to Protect, Problem Solving techniques and Root Cause Analysis
  • Implementation and oversight of the project risk register, deliverables schedule and action plan
  • Accountability for project Positive Impact scores

Design management

Design management is a key function to delivering scheme success, especially as the number of design & build projects we deliver increases. Across their allocated projects, Senior Project Managers are responsible for the following in this respect:

  • Identification, development and implementation of value engineering opportunities
  • Liaison with external design consultancies, in association with the Design Manager
  • Development and implementation of the BIM Execution Plan

Continual improvement

Continual improvement across all aspects of our business is essential to sustained growth and success. Across their allocated projects, Senior Project Managers are responsible for the following in this respect:

  • Assistance in collation of the Positive Impact Scorecard and Business Unit KPIs
  • Development and implementation of improvement plans to increase Positive Impact and KPI scores
  • Participation in the application of our Improvement Strategy, including ownership of agreed actions from our Business Improvement Plan and Lean Improvement Plan
  • Participation in the Positive Impact for Highways Steering Group, including associated actions
  • Attendance of external industry meetings, such as CECA, to keep up to date with construction best practice

What we're looking for in a candidate

  • An industry applicable qualification
  • Highway's knowledge and experience is essential
  • Strong team player but also able to work as an individual
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines
  • Able to work in a busy environment under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face)
  • Possess a "can do" attitude and provide to support to other members of the team as required
