Senior Bookkeeper – Business Services

Top 10 Firm - Central London – Up to £35,000

The Department

The Business Support department provides outsourced accounting services to the firm’s clients. The department is continuing to expand and delivers online interactive accounting software services for its clients. This is an exciting time for our firm and demonstrates our commitment to making the best use of technology to deliver high quality and cost effective services to our clients.

The Role

Your role will entail professional day to day accounting work for a variety of clients, applying principles of accounting. You will be responsible for the preparation of monthly/quarterly management accounts and VAT returns for clients using a suite of software services. You will also assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and preparation of statutory accounts. We will be reporting key performance indicators and variances for our clients and providing them with relevant advisory.

Daily / weekly processing of invoices
Processing and posting the invoices on Xero / Twinfield / Sage
Monthly / quarterly reconciliations of control accounts and preparation of the working papers to support the numbers in the management accounts
Preparation of straight – forward monthly/quarterly management accounts and VAT returns for clients using a suite of software services, with assistance from seniors / managers when needed
Preparation of the payment runs for senior’s / manager’s review
Review junior’s work and provide guidance and on the job training
Liaison with the client to request information / resolve queries
Ensure that allocated work is done within the time budget set
Preparation of the statutory accounts in accordance with relevant Standards, including all necessary disclosures and relevant working papers
Monitor own Retain bookings and discuss any additional booking requirements with senior / manager / mentor
Study for the ACCA qualification in accordance with the Firm’s Student Terms and Conditions

Good knowledge of VAT
Strong UK GAAP knowledge
An awareness of laws and regulations that apply to the accounting function required to ensure compliance
Proficient in using Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook and Sage
Proficient in using Xero (including current apps and an interest in learning more about other apps), Twinfield and Sage
Proficient in using Caseware Accounts Production Software

Prior Experience

You will have experience working in public practice delivering outsourced services to clients.
