Job Description

Our client, a technology firm based near Saffron Walden, is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their small team. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Bookkeeper will work in both Finance and as an Office Administrator, and will be responsible for the following:

* Bookkeeping, including: purchase ledgers, reports, VAT submissions, payment schedules and journals

* Raising Purchase Orders and sourcing products and supplies (laboratory and office)

* Basic Health and Safety tasks (including collection of Safety data sheets and records of chemicals)

* Facilities (organising for preventative maintenance equipment, housekeeping issues etc.)

* Dealing with post and couriers

* HR: Running monthly payroll; pensions; issuing contracts; compiling job descriptions; record keeping; maintenance of files

* Meeting and greeting visitors and contractors.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and will be able to work flexibly within a small team. Good knowledge and experience of accounting packages (Sage, Xero, or similar) is essential. Working in such a small team it is essential that candidates are willing to work across roles, and are able to multi-task while maintaining focus. This is a full time role but part time hours (25hrs per week minimum) would be considered
