We are delighted to be working with a successful practice in Gloucestershire. They are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant/Bookkeeper on a full time/part basis. The successful candidate would have experience in practice but this is not essential.

Job Purpose
To prepare draft accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies for submission to H M Revenue and Customs/Companies House and to assist with the preparation of Tax Returns, Auditing and VAT Returns..

Desired Qualifications - AAT level 2 preferred or qualified by experience (QBE).

Duties Include:
Day to day book-keeping using sage, Xero and Quickbooks (including both sales and purchase ledger, as well as all bank, VAT and payroll reconciliations).
Period end procedures to bring clients accounts up to trial balance.
Preparation, reconciliation and submission of client VAT Returns.
Preparation of annual financial statements for review by the partner
Answering telephone calls and emails, dealing with client queries promptly and professionally.
Providing a high level of customer service, to build on the reputation of the firm.
Maintaining an overall working knowledge of other departments/offices and client services provided.
General administration duties to support the practice to include: printing, scanning, copying and filing of information.

Skills Required:
Have a working knowledge of Sage Line 50 and be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge of Xero and Quickbooks accounting software preferred, but not essential.
Be outgoing and an effective team player.
Have a strong work ethic and a can-do attitude.
Be willing to adapt and evolve to new challenges and processes.
Be a fast learner and have an ability to learn on the job.
Be able to multi task and prioritise and willing to work under pressure.
Strong communication skills and have the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
