JOB TITLE: Criminal Solicitor EXPERIENCE: 2 LOCATION: Greater Manchester SALARY: Dependant on experience THE ROLE: This is an exciting role for an experienced and ambitious Criminal Solicitor to join a successful firm.

You will undertake criminal fee earning work appropriate to Duty Solicitor Status, you will respond to Duty Solicitor call centre requests for court and police station duty attendance.

Other responsibilities include, trial preparation, legal aid applications and undertaking criminal advocacy in Magistrates Courts relating to duty solicitor work and own client work, both private and legally aided.

You will fulfil all duties in accordance with the Law Society’s Practice Management Standards, the Legal Aid Agencies Regulations with regards to the SQM.

The appointed candidate will be based locally so that they are able to travel to Court and Police Stations were required.

THE CANDIDATE: Applications are sought from Duty Solicitors that are CLAS Accredited, you will have a current practising certificate and possess upwards of 2 years PQE.

You will have up to date knowledge of the solicitors Conduct/Account rules, Legal Aid Agencies rules, Regulations and Administration and working knowledge of SQM, the general criminal contract and duty solicitor arrangements.

Applicants must be motivated and confident in their ability to pick up on an existing caseload of files and be flexible in the event that cover is required in out of office hours.

This is a full-time position working at our client’s office in Manchester, although attendance will be required in evenings and weekends to cover allocated Duty Slots.
