Here at PalTank we have an opportunity for a Customs Broker/Processor to join our customs department. We are dedicated to providing a comprehensive multimodal solution to the drinks industry. Being a family-owned and operated business, PalTank is underpinned by core family values, with our customers right at the heart of what we do. As a globally recognised bulk drinks transporter, our dedicated, food-grade, state of the art container fleet includes around 2000 ISO tanks, and for your smaller volume shipments, a smaller number of split compartment tanks. Our fleet is designed to carry a wide diversity of food grade liquids from fruit juices to spirits, beers, and wine products.

We are looking for a person with a logical mindset, first-rate interpretive skills, and analytical competence with a high level of excel competence. You must possess excellent communication skills, be extremely organised and have the ability to identify solutions to problems. You must have a dedicated attitude and consistently driving high standards with emphasis on attention to detail which is also essential. You must be committed to always doing the right thing and always demonstrating integrity. Due to the nature of our business, you must be open to change, be able to drive progress and embrace the future.

Responsibilities:

* Classify goods according to tariff coding system. * Prepare and process import and export documentation according to customs regulations, laws, or procedures. * Clear goods through customs and to their destinations for clients. * Stay abreast of changes in import or export laws or regulations by reading current literature, attending meetings or conferences, or conferring with colleagues. * Request or compile necessary import documentation, such as customs invoices, certificates of origin, and cargo-control documents. * Advise customers on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, quotas, or other customs-related matters. * Quote duty and tax rates on goods to be imported, based on federal tariffs and excise taxes. * Obtain line releases for frequent shippers of low-risk commodities, high-volume entries, or multiple-container loads. * Arrange for transportation, warehousing, or product distribution of imported or exported products. * Inform importers and exporters of steps to reduce duties and taxes. * Contract with freight forwarders for destination services. * Provide advice on transportation options, types of carriers, or shipping routes. * Insure cargo against loss, damage, or pilferage.

Skills & Experience:

* Fully Competent with using DESTIN8 * Experience from working for a freight forwarder in an import freight role * A broad understanding of the overall customs process * Knowledge of the customs tariff * Excellent communication skills * Strong attention to detail * Exceptional IT skills * Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual * Strong organisational & time management skills

This is a full-time contract working Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00 at our Southport HQ.

Salary: Competitive

Benefits: negotiable

Holiday: 20 days + bank holidays
