Our client a global Real World Evidence business provide tailored real-world evidence generation to support pharmaceutical and medical device companies as well as wider healthcare service providers and regulatory authorities.

Work ranges from epidemiological analysis to understand disease burden to monitoring post-market launch intervention effectiveness to evaluation of patient journeys and treatment patterns.

As a Senior Health Economist you will work in the Research Function and will offer expertise and support to the Product Team. Responsible for planning and execution of analyses of healthcare resource use data, supporting the delivery of high-quality research tailored to meet individual client needs.

In the Product Team, the Senior Health Economist will work with simulation modelers to design discrete event simulations, be responsible for ensuring the model meets the client's requirements and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the simulation and modelling business.

The client portfolio covers a range of disease and intervention topics and, along with our growing access to varying real-world data sources and a growing model-based business offers a rewarding work remit.

This position is based in London and offers Hybrid Working.

Responsibilities:

Simulation:

Work with modelers to develop discrete event simulation models that simulate patient journeys, modelling provider capacity and costs of a proposed or existing pathway
Responsible for ensuring simulation models meet client requirements
Work with wider team of clinicians, epidemiologists and statisticians to develop simulation and modelling business including cost effectiveness analysis (CEA) and Bayesian modelling

Research:

Contribute to the design and implementation of study methodologies including the identification of suitable economic data and analysis methodologies to address client research questions using routinely collected healthcare datasets including electronic medical records and reimbursement datasets (e.g., HES, CPRD, NCRAS and specialty EMR datasets).
Contribute to research study protocols, draft health economic analysis plans including identifying appropriate methods for addressing missing economic data.
Contribute to monitoring study scope and refine project specifications to ensure adherence to client need particularly ensuring sufficiently detailed health care resource use data reporting for client cost effectiveness models which may involve liaising with third parties.
Contribute to the coding and execution of study methodology programming using widely utilized software packages (i.e., R, Stata, SAS)
Lead the validation of healthcare resource use data including coding, scripts and outputs
Contribute to preparing and presenting key economic research insights and findings using written reports and visual representatives to colleagues and clients
Contribute to improvements in operational efficiencies, including written documentation, such as standard operating procedures.
Ensure research quality and compliance with regulatory obligations.
Ability to analyze complex data and draw relevant conclusions
Commitment to collaborative working with multidisciplinary teams
Time management skills with the ability to contribute to multiple projects with competing timelines simultaneously.
Proven ability to engage with stakeholders including clients, clinicians and third-party providers.

Qualifications:

Postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD) in health economics or medical statistics and econometrics or a related discipline
Analyzing data to draw relevant conclusions
Designing and executing economic analyses
Experience of building economic models, including cost effectiveness models
Knowledge of Bayesian methods and probabilistic modelling
Experience of writing economic analysis plans and research reports
Knowledge of electronic health record datasets, particularly in the UK (e.g. HES, CPRD)
Experience of using R (or a related software) for data management and analysis
Experience of presenting research methodologies and results to a range of audiences (including scientific, clinical, peer and lay).

Desirable

Experience of large real-world data analyses
Experience of econometric analysis design and execution e.g. regression discontinuity and difference in differences analyses
Consultancy, contract research organization or healthcare service industry
Evidence of peer reviewed journal publications and/or presentations at scientific conferences.
