Job Description

Orka Financial is recruiting a qualified accountant for a broad, hands-on Group Finance Manager opportunity with a privately owned, multi-entity organisation in the Thatcham area. The role offers £55,000–£60,000 per annum plus 25 days’ holiday, private healthcare and a 3% pension contribution.

This is a permanent, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. A hybrid pattern is available, with the team generally together in the office three days each week.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will take responsibility for reliable day-to-day financial operations while also delivering useful management information and supporting improvements across the group. It will suit someone who enjoys moving between detailed accounting, commercial analysis and practical process development.

What you will be doing

• Maintain strong controls across ledgers, banking, expenses, invoicing and reconciliations.

• Coordinate payroll information and ensure the resulting accounting entries are complete and accurate.

• Keep short-term cash forecasting current and highlight funding or working-capital issues early.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, reporting packs and variance analysis.

• Manage payment activity, credit control, VAT work, journals, accruals and prepayments.

• Support annual accounts, statutory submissions and reporting for senior stakeholders.

• Monitor budgets, costs, compliance requirements and financial risks across several entities.

• Improve systems, controls, KPI reporting and automation with sensible use of modern digital tools.

What you will bring

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent accounting qualification.

• Recent experience producing management accounts and financial reports to deadline.

• Practical knowledge of core finance operations, cash-flow planning, credit control and cost management.

• A sound understanding of payroll, PAYE and pension compliance.

• Strong Excel and finance-systems capability, with excellent attention to detail.

• The confidence to work with colleagues outside finance and explain financial information clearly.

Experience in a group environment, a regulated or production-led sector, or finance-process automation would be useful but is not essential.
