Manufacturing Operative

We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Operative to join a well-established and growing precision engineering business.

This is a varied, hands-on role within the manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for ensuring components are correctly de-burred, finished and presented to a high standard, while also supporting the wider machine shop with tooling, material handling, subcontractor deliveries and general production duties.

The role would suit someone with previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering or machine shop environment who is practical, reliable and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities

• De-burr and finish manufactured components to the required company standards.
  
  
• Ensure parts are free from burrs and swarf and that surface finish and presentation meet quality requirements.
  
  
• Set, log and store tooling and workholding for production jobs.
  
  
• Stamp materials as required for production.
  
  
• Prepare and safely load components for transportation to subcontractors.
  
  
• Transport components and materials to and from subcontractors when required.
  
  
• Carry out general checks and upkeep of the company works vehicle, including checking fluid levels and tyre pressures.
  
  
• Support the production and warehouse teams with general manufacturing duties when required, including mechanical assembly.
  
  
• Maintain a clean, organised and presentable machine shop.
  
  
• Ensure tooling, equipment and work areas are maintained and stored correctly.
  
  
• Complete relevant production and quality paperwork.
  
  
• Provide cover and support for colleagues during holidays and periods of absence.
  
  
• Work flexibly and assist with other reasonable duties as required by senior management.
  
  

About You

We are looking for a conscientious, practical and reliable individual who is comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering or machine shop environment.
  
  
• Experience of de-burring, finishing or presenting engineering components would be advantageous.
  
  
• The ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  
  
• Good levels of numeracy and literacy.
  
  
• A full, clean driving licence.
  
  
• The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
  
  
• A methodical, organised and tidy approach to work.
  
  
• Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
  
  
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  
  
• A proactive approach with the ability to plan ahead and manage your time effectively.
  
  
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  
  
• A willingness to learn new products, processes and procedures.
  
  

Training can be provided for the right candidate. We are particularly interested in individuals with a strong practical background who are keen to develop their skills within a precision manufacturing environment.
