Job Description

A prestigious global law firm is seeking a Senior Risk and Compliance Lawyer to join their London-based team, offering a hybrid working model with a minimum of 60% office attendance. This full-time, permanent position provides the opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled and diverse group of professionals across multiple continents, supporting the Head of Legal Risk and collaborating closely with colleagues in risk, compliance, business acceptance, conflicts, and data privacy.n

Job description:

  • Advise on all aspects of risk and compliance including SRA code of conduct, professional standards, ethics, conflicts, financial crime (including anti-money laundering and sanctions), client terms and conditions, supplier contracts, data protection and artificial intelligence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the risk and compliance team as well as other business services teams and fee earning teams worldwide to ensure consistent application of policies.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the firm's policies, systems and processes to support effective risk management.
  • Identify new or amended regulatory requirements and legal obligations that impact the firm's operations across various jurisdictions.
  • Draft or update policies and procedures in response to changes in regulatory law affecting any of the locations where the firm operates.
  • Monitor compliance by keeping registers up-to-date and ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Provide guidance on contract law, torts, confidentiality, privilege and data protection matters as they relate to risk management.
  • Support audits and training initiatives by travelling to offices within the global network when required.
  • Assist with claims handling and complaints resolution as part of ad hoc duties within the department.

Person requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer (England & Wales) with between six to ten years' post-qualification experience gained within an international law firm's risk team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Handbook with particular emphasis on the Code of Conduct.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills enabling you to convey complex information clearly across diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with key stakeholders to achieve shared objectives within a legal context.
  • Up-to-date expertise in contract law, torts, financial crime (including anti-money laundering and sanctions), conflicts management, confidentiality protocols, privilege issues and data protection legislation.
