Finance Analyst in London - Harper May Ltd

Harper May is working with a London-based financial services firm that has grown steadily over the past five years through organic expansion and selective acquisition. The business is mid-market scale, privately held, and regulated by the FCA. Growth has outpaced finance capability in parts of the operation, and the team now needs to strengthen its analytical capacity to support faster decision-making and cleaner month-end close. They are now seeking a Finance Analyst to build financial discipline, improve data quality, and provide clearer visibility to the business.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will own analysis and reporting across multiple business lines. The role sits at the intersection of technical accounting and business support-you will be expected to move beyond producing numbers to understanding what they mean and articulating that clearly to senior stakeholders who do not live in spreadsheets.

• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting commentary for board-level review
• Build and maintain financial models to support planning, scenarios, and investment decisions
• Analyse profit and loss drivers by business unit and product line
• Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management
• Assist with external reporting and regulatory submissions
• Lead ad-hoc analysis on cost, pricing, and operational efficiency

What we are looking for

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent experience in financial analysis within a regulated business)
• Minimum 2-3 years of post-qualification experience in financial services or a similar control environment
• Proficiency in Excel and financial modelling; exposure to accounting software and BI tools is a plus
• Ability to distil complex financial data into clear, actionable insight for non-financial audiences
• Methodical, organised approach to work with genuine attention to accuracy and process
• Commercial awareness and appetite to understand the business, not just the numbers
