Financial Controller in London - Harper May Ltd

Harper May is working with a founder-led technology company that has reached £15m revenue and is now investing in its finance infrastructure to support the next phase of growth. The business has recently secured additional funding and is building out its back-office functions. They are now seeking a Financial Controller to establish robust financial controls and reporting as the company scales.

The Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will own the full finance control function-from transaction processing through to board reporting. This is a hands-on role that requires both technical rigour and the ability to communicate complex financial issues clearly to non-finance stakeholders in a growing, fast-moving business.

• Execute the monthly close cycle, producing accurate management accounts and statutory returns on time
• Design and embed financial controls and process documentation to support scaling
• Manage GL reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet ownership
• Lead tax compliance and audit engagement with external advisors
• Build cash flow forecasting and working capital management disciplines
• Support strategic finance projects, including systems implementation and process redesign
• Line manage a junior finance team and define capability requirements as the function grows

What we are looking for

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
• 5+ years as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager, ideally in technology or software
• Proven ability to lead month-end and year-end closes independently
• Solid grounding in IFRS/UK GAAP and revenue recognition under IFRS 15
• Systems-comfortable and pragmatic about process improvement
• Clear communicator who can distil financial data for a commercial audience
