Job Description

We are working with a large and reputable healthcare organisation seeking a Legal Services Officer to support the delivery of an effective claims management and legal support function. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to play a key role in managing legal matters, particularly inquests and claims relating to clinical negligence, employer/public liability and property.


This position sits within a collaborative Legal Services team and offers exposure to a wide range of medico-legal work, with the opportunity to contribute to organisational learning and risk management.


Key Responsibilities

- Support the management of clinical negligence, employer/public liability and property-related claims in line with legal and regulatory frameworks

- Act as a key point of contact for panel solicitors, claimants’ representatives, external bodies and internal stakeholders

- Review medical and incident records, gather evidence and prepare chronologies, summaries and documentation for legal cases

- Assist with the preparation and coordination of inquests, including witness management, statements and hearing logistics

- Provide timely responses to requests for documentation across claims and legal matters

- Ensure compliance with relevant protocols, policies and disclosure requirements

- Identify and escalate trends, risks or concerns arising from claims or inquests to senior legal leadership

- Support continuous improvement by contributing to learning outcomes and process enhancements


Requirements

- Experience working within legal services, claims handling or a healthcare/legal environment

- Understanding of clinical negligence, litigation processes or inquests (desirable)

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines

- Experience reviewing complex documentation and producing clear, concise summaries

- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders

- High attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset

- Knowledge of legal frameworks, Civil Procedure Rules or regulatory requirements (desirable)
