Lunchtime Supervisor

Location: Lewisham, South London
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: 11:30-13:30

About the Role

We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Lunchtime Supervisor to join our friendly team at a special needs primary school in Lewisham from September 2026.

You will play an important role in ensuring that our pupils have a safe, happy and positive lunchtime experience. You will support children with a range of additional needs, helping them to enjoy their lunch, socialise with their peers and take part in play and recreational activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise pupils safely during lunchtime and outdoor play.
  • Support children with their individual needs and routines.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction.
  • Help create a calm, inclusive and enjoyable lunchtime environment.
  • Support pupils with eating and drinking where appropriate.
  • Respond appropriately to children's emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and other members of the school team.
  • Follow the school's safeguarding, health and safety and behaviour procedures.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Caring, patient and approachable.
  • Confident working with children with additional needs.
  • Calm and able to respond positively to challenging situations.
  • A good communicator and reliable team member.
  • Enthusiastic about helping children develop their confidence and independence.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Previous experience working in a school or with children with special educational needs would be an advantage, but full training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
