IT Support Technician (1st, 2nd & 3rd Line)

Location: Darwen, Lancashire

Job Type: Full-Time

VB Group is seeking an experienced IT Support Technician to join our team at our Darwen site.

This is a broad, hands-on role supporting all aspects of the business's IT infrastructure and software estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support, maintaining business-critical systems, and contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of our IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line technical support to users across the business.
  • Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers and other IT equipment.
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network and connectivity issues.
  • Support and maintain business applications and operational software.
  • Assist with system upgrades, migrations, deployments and IT projects.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions and IT assets.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure IT security best practices are maintained.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation where required.
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers and service providers when necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and the overall user experience.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in an IT support role covering 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Good understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and switching.
  • Experience supporting both infrastructure and business software applications.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware would be advantageous.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
