Premises Officer/Caretaker in St. Helens - Teaching Personnel

Temp to Perm Opportunity

Are you a reliable, proactive and hands-on individual with a strong sense of responsibility? We are currently recruiting for a Premises Officer / Caretaker to join a busy and welcoming secondary school in St Helens on a temp-to-perm basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and secure environment for students, staff and visitors.

As a Premises Officer, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring the site is well-maintained, secure and fully operational at all times.

This role requires flexibility and commitment to a split shift pattern:

• Morning: 6:00am – 10:15am
• Afternoon: 2:45pm – 6:00pm

Please note: This is an all-year-round position (not term-time only).

• Opening and locking up the school site daily
• Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks
• Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are clean, safe and well-presented
• Conducting health & safety checks and reporting hazards
• Setting up rooms for events, exams, and school activities
• Managing deliveries and supporting contractors on site
• Performing security checks, including alarm systems
• Supporting emergency procedures when required

• Previous experience in a caretaker, premises, maintenance, or facilities role (preferred)
• A practical, hands-on approach with basic maintenance skills
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Good understanding of health & safety procedures
• Flexible and committed to split shift working patterns
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
