Legal Cashier
Location: Castleford, West Yorkshire
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Job Type: Full-Time | Office-based

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Cashier to join a well-established and growing law firm. This is a fantastic role for someone with previous legal accounts experience who enjoys working in a busy, collaborative environment and takes pride in maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and compliance.

You'll play a key role in the smooth running of the firm's finance function, ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules while supporting colleagues across the business with a wide range of legal accounting responsibilities.

The Role

As Legal Cashier, your responsibilities will include:
  • Processing client and office account payments, including BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments and cheque transactions
  • Posting bills and maintaining accurate client and office ledgers
  • Processing bank transfers and daily banking activities
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end accounting procedures
  • Managing online banking transactions safely and accurately
  • Liaising with accountants and software providers where required
  • Handling purchase ledger, ledger write-offs, archiving and general accounts administration
  • Responding to internal and external finance queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with regulatory compliance and financial procedures
  • Delivering excellent internal client service to colleagues across the firm
About You

We're keen to hear from candidates who have:
  • Previous experience working as a Legal Cashier within a law firm
  • A solid understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good IT skills and experience using legal accounts software
