Are you an ambitious sales professional with a background in freight forwarding or international logistics? We're partnering with a growing logistics organisation that is looking to strengthen its commercial team with the appointment of an experienced Business Development Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated hunter who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities, and securing new business within the freight and supply chain sector.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the commercial team, you'll be responsible for driving new business growth across the UK. You'll manage the full sales process, from identifying prospects and developing opportunities through to negotiating commercial agreements and ensuring a smooth transition into service delivery.

You'll be trusted to develop your own pipeline, manage customer relationships, and represent the business within the market while working closely with operational colleagues to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking and referrals.
  • Develop strong relationships with prospective customers across a range of industries.
  • Understand customer supply chain challenges and recommend tailored freight and logistics solutions.
  • Manage opportunities through every stage of the sales cycle, from initial contact to contract award.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and commercial proposals to key decision-makers.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecast using the company's CRM platform.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure successful implementation of new customer accounts.
  • Monitor market activity, competitor movements and emerging industry trends to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Attend customer meetings, exhibitions and networking events to raise brand awareness and generate leads.
  • Provide regular updates on sales performance, pipeline progression and business development activity.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines industry knowledge with a proactive, consultative sales style.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience winning new business within freight forwarding, logistics or international transport.
  • A solid understanding of global supply chains and import/export operations across multiple transport modes.
  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence presenting commercial solutions to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and travel regularly to customer sites.
  • A self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently in a field-based role.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive basic salary.
  • Attractive performance-related bonus.
  • Car allowance.
  • Remote working with autonomy and flexibility.
  • Opportunity to join a successful and expanding business with genuine career development prospects.
