Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join a growing and forward-thinking organisation based in Watford. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional looking to take ownership of the month end process while partnering with key stakeholders across the business.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving continuous improvements across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
  • Complete month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Produce variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, providing meaningful commentary.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and regular forecasts.
  • Monitor departmental performance and provide financial insights to support business decisions.
  • Prepare cash flow reports and support working capital management.
  • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts and investigate any variances.
  • Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.
  • Prepare VAT returns and assist with statutory reporting requirements.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting.
  • Business partner with operational managers, providing financial support and analysis.
  • Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc projects and reporting requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience as a Management Accountant
  • Part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or fully qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA
  • Strong month-end accounting experience.
  • Excellent understanding of management accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work with stakeholders across the business.
  • A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
