Job Description
We are recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join a growing and forward-thinking organisation based in Watford. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional looking to take ownership of the month end process while partnering with key stakeholders across the business.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving continuous improvements across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
- Complete month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Produce variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, providing meaningful commentary.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and regular forecasts.
- Monitor departmental performance and provide financial insights to support business decisions.
- Prepare cash flow reports and support working capital management.
- Reconcile key balance sheet accounts and investigate any variances.
- Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with statutory reporting requirements.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting.
- Business partner with operational managers, providing financial support and analysis.
- Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc projects and reporting requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Management Accountant
- Part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or fully qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA
- Strong month-end accounting experience.
- Excellent understanding of management accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work with stakeholders across the business.
- A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
