Location: Hybrid - Leicestershire (Office base with flexible remote working)

Pay Rate: £38.00 per hour

Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Locum / Temporary

Target Start Date: Ideally within 4 weeks

About the Role

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a high-caliber, Level 3 Social Worker to join their fast-paced First Response (Front Door) Assessment Team. This critical role is the initial point of entry for children's services, ensuring that vulnerable children and families receive timely, high-quality assessments and interventions.

This position offers a competitive hourly rate and a stable, 37-hour full-time work week under a flexible hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Front Door Assessments: Undertake initial, comprehensive child and family assessments to determine risk and immediate safeguarding needs.

  • Child Protection (CP): Act swiftly on safeguarding referrals, identifying risk factors and implementing immediate protection plans where necessary.

  • Court Proceedings: Initiate urgent care proceedings, prepare robust court reports and statements, and represent the Local Authority confidently during court hearings.

  • Multidisciplinary Liaison: Collaborate closely with schools, health professionals, police, and early help services to coordinate seamless support.

Candidate Criteria

To hit the ground running in this fast-paced environment, candidates must demonstrate the following specific experience:

  • Front Door Expertise: Proven background working specifically within a Local Authority First Response or Front Door Assessment Team.

  • Core Practice Experience: Substantial, hands-on experience managing complex Child Protection (CP) cases and navigating Court work from start to finish.

  • Senior Capability: Ideally operating at a Level 3 Social Worker proficiency (advanced practice skills, minimal supervision required).

  • Compliance: Active Social Work England registration and a clean, enhanced DBS.

  • Availability: Able to transition and start the position ideally within a 4-week notice period.
