Job Description
We are recruiting for a Conveyancing Assistant to join a well established legal practice based in Leighton Buzzard. This role offers the opportunity to join a great team and company that supports growth, both personally and business.
Working Hours: 09:00am - 17:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Location: Leighton Buzzard, fully office based role.
Contract Type: Perm.
Start Date: ASAP, following successful interview process.
Duties:
- Assisting with the day-to-day running of case files under the supervision of fee earners.
- Attending to clients over the phone and in-person providing assistance in a professional and friendly manner.
- Assisting with enquiries from clients, agents, and other third parties and taking messages and communicating messages to the fee earners within the department.
- Drafting precedent letters and documents using the firm’s case management system.
- Assisting with all work required when a file is opened.
- Assisting with AML checks to comply with the Money Laundering legislation formalities.
- Assisting with new business enquiries and sending quotes.
- Assisting with post completion matters as required.
- Communicating with the Accounts Department in respect of payments received and to be sent.
- Assisting with completions.
- Complying with the Firm’s policies and procedures.
- Complying with the SRA Rules.
- Keeping up to date with the changes and developments in the law.
- Maintaining the document management structure as set in the department.
- Filing where necessary, and assisting with daily post and hand ins.
- Any other administrative tasks required from the business from time to time.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience of working in a conveyancing department is preferred but training and development opportunities will be given, so this is not essential.
- Good IT skills including emails, Word, Excel and case management system.
- Good interpersonal & organisational skills.
- Work to high levels of accuracy & good attention to detail.
- Confident dealing with a wide range of people via telephone, email or face to face.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy office and to prioritise between various competing tasks.
- A willingness to learn and develop in the role.
- An understanding of the requirement for confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
