Are you passionate about supporting children with additional and complex needs? Are you looking to develop your skills in mental health, special education, or therapeutic support?

A specialist school in Reading are seeking a passionate and caring individual to join their team as a Complex Needs Support Assistant. This is a full-time role supporting children with a diagnosed Special Educational Needs, including Autism, developmental delay, learning needs and physical disabilities.

As a Complex Needs Support Assistant, you will provide one-to-one and small group support, helping students access learning and manage their emotional and behavioural responses in a safe, structured environment. Many of the children struggle with their interpersonal skills, communication and emotional resilience, and your role will be key in helping build their confidence, regulation, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored support to pupils with complex learning, emotional and behaviour needs.
  • Implement mental health strategies and behaviour plans designed by SEN staff and therapists.
  • Build strong, consistent relationships to help students feel safe and understood.
  • Create a calm and positive classroom environment.
  • Support with communication and building independent living skills.

The school are seeking a Complex Needs Support Assistant who is resilient, nurturing and encouraging. Previous experience working with vulnerable children and/or adults would be beneficial, but not essential.
