Air Import Operator in Feltham - Right Now Group

Right Now Group is working with a well-established freight forwarding company based near London Heathrow, specialising in multimodal logistics solutions. They are currently seeking an experienced Air Import Operator to join their growing operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong air import experience who is confident managing shipments from start to finish, including both general cargo and perishable goods.

Role Overview - Air Import Operator

As an Air Import Operator, you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of import air freight shipments. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure goods move efficiently and in compliance with all regulations.

You will work closely with airlines, agents, customs brokers and internal teams to ensure shipments are handled smoothly, particularly time-sensitive consignments such as perishables.

Key Responsibilities - Air Import Operator

• Manage day-to-day air import operations, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently and compliantly.
• Coordinate general cargo and perishable import shipments from arrival through to final delivery.
• Handle import documentation including Airway Bills, customs entries, and shipment records.
• Liaise with airlines, overseas agents, ground handlers and customs brokers to ensure smooth movement of cargo.
• Track and monitor shipments, proactively resolving any delays or operational issues.
• Ensure all shipments comply with HMRC regulations and customs procedures.
• Maintain accurate operational records and update internal systems accordingly.
• Provide a high level of customer service, keeping clients informed of shipment progress.

Key Requirements - Air Import Operator

• Proven experience in air import operations within freight forwarding.
• Experience handling general cargo and/or perishable shipments would be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of import documentation and customs procedures.
• Experience using E-Customs / Descartes or similar freight systems.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Experience dealing with overseas agents, particularly in regions such as the Middle East or India, would be beneficial.
