Caretaker / Cleaner - Secondary Schools (Full-Time, 5 Days per Week) - Croydon

We are currently seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker / Cleaner to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school environment in Croydon. This is a full-time position (5 days per week) and is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and site maintenance within a school setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the cleanliness and general upkeep of school buildings and grounds

  • Carrying out routine cleaning duties across classrooms, corridors, offices, and communal areas

  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the school site

  • Undertaking basic maintenance tasks and reporting any repairs required

  • Ensuring health and safety standards are upheld at all times

  • Assisting with opening and closing the school site where required

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a caretaker, site assistant, or cleaner, ideally within a school or similar environment

  • Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, site maintenance, and health and safety practices

  • A proactive and dependable approach to work

  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively

  • A degree is preferred, although not essential for candidates with substantial relevant experience

  • A valid enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
