Main Duties
As an Accounts Technician you’ll enjoy a diverse and rewarding role, including:
- Preparing financial statements for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders up to the audit threshold
- Preparing personal and corporate tax computations and returns
- Providing bookkeeping and management accounting services
- Filing documents with Companies House and HMRC on behalf of clients
- Ensuring accounting records are maintained accurately and kept up to date
- Preparing and completing quarterly VAT returns
- Working in line with internal policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
- Providing general administrative support to Partners, Managers, and the wider office
Experience
Ideally, you’ll have:
- A minimum of 1–2 years’ experience working in an accountancy practice (essential)
- AAT qualification, or be part-qualified with ongoing studies, or qualified by experience
- Previous experience preparing accounts for limited companies and unincorporated businesses
- A friendly, positive, and approachable manner
- Confidence in dealing with clients and colleagues at all levels
- Resilience, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Initiative and the ability to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines
- A professional and team-oriented approach
- Good working knowledge of general IT (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic social media tools)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely
- Accuracy and a strong eye for detail
