A leading financial services organisation in Swindon is looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join an established engineering team working on high-availability, business-critical payment systems. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys complex backend engineering, secure transaction processing, and contributing to a mature agile environment.

The Role

You’ll be joining a team where you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organisation’s core card platform. Your work will involve a blend of feature development, system optimisation, and technical problem-solving across a highly regulated, high-volume environment.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong commercial experience with Java 17 and modern engineering frameworks
• Solid skills in SQL, Spring Boot, and Hibernate development practices
• Proven ability to build microservices and reliable RESTful APIs
• Hands-on experience applying TDD and BDD testing approaches
• Good understanding of clean coding principles, SOLID, and cloud technologies
• Practical experience with AWS services, Docker containerisation, and Git tooling

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and thoroughly test new enhancements across the platform
• Lead feature development from initial concept through to final delivery
• Produce high-quality software that consistently meets performance expectations
• Mentor junior developers and actively support broader knowledge growth
• Resolve technical issues promptly to ensure continued platform stability
• Contribute ideas that evolve and improve the overall product architecture

Contract Details

• Location: Swindon (1 days per week on-site)
• Duration: 6 months
• Rate: £500–£550 per day
• IR35: Inside
