Import/Export Freight Forwarder in Manchester - Lori Walsh Recruitment

We are seeking an experienced Multi Modal Import & Export Freight Forwarder to manage and coordinate international shipments across sea, air, and road freight. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring full compliance with international trade regulations while delivering a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage end-to-end import and export shipments via ocean, air, and road freight

· Arrange bookings with shipping lines, airlines, and hauliers

· Liaise with overseas agents, carriers, and customers to ensure smooth movement of cargo

· Prepare and process all relevant shipping documentation, including:

· Bills of Lading Air Waybills Commercial Invoices Packing Lists Customs documentation

· Arrange customs clearance and ensure compliance with all international trade regulations

· Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve any delays or issues

· Provide accurate freight quotations to customers

· Invoice customers and ensure all costs are correctly accounted for

· Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers

Skills & Experience Required

· Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in multi modal freight forwarding (import and export)

· Strong knowledge of ocean, air, and road freight operations

· Experience handling customs procedures and documentation

· Excellent organisational and time management skills

· Strong attention to detail

· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

· Good communication skills (both written and verbal)

· Commercial awareness and ability to negotiate rates

· Proficiency in freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office

Desirable

· CDS experience in the UK

· Dangerous goods knowledge

· Experience working with international agents

· Additional language skills
