Fantastic time to join this in-house Pensions team as they go through an exciting transformation period, focused on long-term process development and efficiencies.

As the Senior Technical Expert you will provide specialist knowledge and guidance on complex pension matters across a diverse portfolio of arrangements. This role demands deep technical expertise in Defined Benefit (DB), Defined Contribution (DC) Master Trust, and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

About the role

  • Resolve complex member cases and ensure regulatory compliance through your own expertise and collaboration with external advisers.
  • Lead on technical interpretations and scheme administration queries across multiple pension and life assurance arrangements.
  • Mentor junior team members while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
  • Support strategic pension initiatives and projects, adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Handle a share of day-to-day administration tasks for joiners, leavers, retirements, and deaths, focusing on complex cases and checking work completed by others.
  • Act as cover for key roles such as Trustee & Supplier Oversight Lead and occasionally the Pensions Operations & Supplier Relationship Manager.
  • Collaborate on policy and strategy with the Pensions Governance, Projects & Strategy Manager and their team.
  • Proactively engage in personal development to stay ahead of governance processes, legislation, and emerging industry trends.
About You

You are an experienced pensions professional with a strong technical background and a passion for delivering excellence. You thrive in complex environments and enjoy sharing knowledge with others. Ideally, you bring:

  • Extensive experience in DB, DC Master Trust, and LGPS schemes.
  • In-depth knowledge of pensions legislation, governance processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving complex member cases.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with external advisers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
  • A proactive approach to learning and staying current with industry trends.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and contribute to strategic projects.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
