Job Description
A leading London financial institution undergoing HR transformation, is hiring a Payroll Manager to lead its UK in-house payroll. The role is key to delivering payroll excellence during a new HR system implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full UK monthly payroll with HMRC/statutory compliance.
- Act as senior escalation point for complex payroll and tax matters.
- Manage year-end filings (P11D, PSA, Form 42).
- Oversee expatriate payroll and liaise with external tax advisers.
- Produce payroll reporting, journals and reconciliations.
- Maintain strong controls and audit readiness.
- Lead and develop the payroll team.
- Drive process improvements and support Workday HR system implementation.
- Represent payroll in cross-functional forums and manage payroll risk escalation.
Skills & Experience
- Proven leadership of in-house UK payroll in complex/regulated environments.
- Strong team leadership and people development skills.
- Expertise in UK employment tax and expatriate payroll.
- Deep knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
- Workday Payroll experience (implementation exposure preferred).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and stakeholder influence.
- Highly organised and effective under pressure.
Working Model
- Hybrid: 3 days per week in the London office.
