About the Role

We are seeking a Data Architect to support the design and delivery of modern Azure-based data solutions within a large, highly regulated organisation operating in the public and professional standards sector. This role sits at the heart of a data-driven transformation programme, shaping enterprise data models, improving data quality and governance, and enabling secure, scalable and compliant cloud data capabilities.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident working across conceptual, logical and physical data architecture, with the ability to translate complex requirements into clear, scalable and well-governed designs. You will be responsible for ensuring data architecture quality across projects, shaping modelling standards and supporting the development of an enterprise-wide data framework.

You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, technical teams and external partners, influencing architectural decisions while ensuring models, data flows and governance processes align to organisational strategy and best practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead data architecture design for projects, producing Data Architecture Assessments
• Design and deliver cloud data architectures using Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL and related services
• Lead project-level data architecture, defining data models, flows, integrations and governance
• Champion data architecture principles, providing education, mentoring and guidance across the organisation
• Maintain and evolve the Data Architecture Roadmap

Skills and Experience

• Strong background in data architecture with hands-on experience delivering enterprise data models
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, Azure SQL, Databricks or Fabric
• Expertise in conceptual and logical data modelling, ideally using UML
• Deep understanding of Azure-aligned data architectures, including lakehouse and dimensional modelling
• Ability to design secure Azure data solutions and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience designing transitional architectures and incorporating security considerations across
