What you'll do:

As an Assistant Accountant in Warrington, you'll be at the heart of a lively finance function where every day brings new learning opportunities. You'll immerse yourself in activities managing journal postings for accruals and prepayments, maintaining reconciliations that keep financial data robust, processing intercompany transactions with care, assisting during audits with professionalism, preparing trial balances for accurate reporting, supporting compliance efforts that uphold best practices, documenting procedures for clarity, contributing ideas for process improvements that make a real difference, and collaborating enthusiastically with colleagues across various teams.

  • Support the month-end process ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and post journals such as accruals, prepayments, and intercompany entries with guidance from the wider finance team.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving any differences.
  • Assist with year-end audit activities, including preparing schedules and responding to information requests.
  • Process and reconcile intercompany transactions and support related billing and settlements.
  • Help with group reporting tasks, including consolidations and reporting packs as required.
  • Support the preparation of trial balances and contribute to both management and financial reporting.
  • Follow internal controls, policies, and standard accounting procedures.
  • Document processes and support improvements within the finance function.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across finance and other departments to resolve queries and share information.

What you bring:

In the Assistant Accountant role you'll bring a passion for foundational accounting practices such as double-entry bookkeeping along with exposure to multi-entity environments. Your background may include supporting month-end closes or preparing reconciliations under supervision. You're comfortable using Microsoft Excel for analysis tasks-like creating pivot tables-and ideally have worked with ERP systems before.

* You are an early stage part-qualified accountant or have an enthusiastic willingness to begin studies towards ACCA / CIMA or equivalent professional qualification.

* You possess a solid grounding in financial accounting principles as well as double-entry bookkeeping techniques gained through education or practical experience.

* You demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel including use of pivot tables, lookups (VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP), and basic data analysis functions relevant for financial reporting.

* You show excellent interpersonal skills allowing you to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different teams while responding promptly to stakeholder queries.

* You are committed to maintaining high standards of data integrity by following internal control frameworks diligently during all aspects of your work.

* You display enthusiasm for participating in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency within shared service environments.
